The organization that found and is physically in possession of your item has determined the return options you will see during the return process. Typically, there are two return options: scheduling a pickup appointment or booking a return shipment.
Once the organization has assigned ownership of the item to your claim, you will receive a confirmation email at the address you used to submit the claim. In this confirmation email, you can start the return process. Click on the large blue button in the confirmation email, and you will be directed to your item return page, where you will see the return options available for selection.
Scheduling a Pickup Appointment:
When scheduling a pickup appointment, you can select and confirm a date and time. During this process, the pickup instructions (including the address) will be shared with you. By scheduling a pickup, you are notifying the organization that you will be coming, and they can prepare your item for you in advance.
Please note: iLost has no influence over the operating hours of partner organizations. If you wish to pick up your item at an alternative time not displayed in the appointment window, please send a message via your claim conversation to the lost and found team of the organization that found your item.
Booking a Shipment:
Shipping options are an additional service offered by iLost. iLost itself is not a courier service or an e-commerce platform with a fixed warehouse. Since items occasionally need to be picked up from hundreds of different organizations, we always have to book the courier service that will pick up the package, which unfortunately incurs additional costs.
If you wish to book a shipment, you can enter your delivery address and complete your payment during the return process. Once your shipment is booked, the organization will be notified that they can prepare your item for the next courier pickup. The courier will pick up the package on the next working day if the shipment is booked before 4:00 PM. You will always receive a tracking number so you can follow your package.
If none of the above return options are displayed, it means the organization that found your item is unable to offer these options.
