How to Register a Found Item on iLost?

Updated over a week ago

How nice of you to help the rightful owner of a found item!
Through the iLost platform, you can easily register a found item as “Found.” In this article, we explain step by step how to do this.

Step 1: Log in to your iLost account

Go to the iLost website and click on “My iLost” in the top right corner to log in.

Don’t have an account yet? Click on “Sign up” to create one.

Step 2: Go to “Found Items”

In your account, click on “Found Items” and then on the blue button:

“Report found item”

Step 3: Register the found item

Complete the registration form as thoroughly as possible. Below, we explain the most important sections:

- What did you find?

Enter only the type of item, such as:

  • Backpack

  • Phone

  • Wallet

  • Set of keys

  • Gloves

- Title (publicly visible)

This title will be visible on the platform. In addition to the item type, you can add extra information such as color or brand.

- Add a photo

Upload a photo by clicking:

“Upload image or drag and drop”
You can also drag an image directly from your files.

Please note: Not all file formats are supported.

After a successful upload, the image will appear immediately.

- Add secret verification details

Here, you can enter additional characteristics that will not be publicly visible.
These details are only visible to you and help verify the rightful owner. The owner must be able to provide these unique details when claiming the item.

Example of secret verification details:

“Marketing textbook, a JBL speaker, and a Secrid cardholder with cards in the name of Ferry W.”

- Where did you find it?

Enter the address or location where the item was approximately found.

You can also use the map, but entering an address is usually more accurate.

- Complete the registration

Click the blue button: “Report item”

- Registration completed!

The found item is now immediately published on the iLost platform.
Hopefully, the owner will quickly find and claim it.

After registration, you can easily:
